In my learning gamification framework, I focus a lot on level 3 proof of learning. So far very few products on the market deliver this level. Most corporate facing tools allow for level 1 content gamification and level 2 systems gamification. From my coaching and training days, I always felt that assisting the person to achieve their end goal is more important than how they got there. I used to set my clients different quest to achieve their goal. Some steps in the quest were focused on letting go or awareness building and then some were focused on taking the next steps. All along the way I was their cheerleader for change and most of the time this was in person.
In the last few days, the Israeli company MyQuest approached me to sell me their product. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to see an easy to use gamified online quest program that can support training and coaching programs. It uses mainly small bite size micro-learning steps to encourage your learner or coaching client forward. The client records their progress and you can set proof evidence as a step in the process. It is this step that excited me the most. Finally a product where accountability is not just left up to chance. Gamification rewards action and unlocks new levels, points earned can be redeemed against more courses or other products you may offer.
As a former business coach, I was impressed that it takes all the steps into account that you would consider in face to face coaching sessions. In my current position as a gamification designer, I have to say I like the gamification features supporting positive action and encouraging proof. This is definitely a product worth looking into, when you have a number of coaching style training interventions to deliver. The added bonus is that the application allows you to have a quest related community and feedback from the coach directly built in upfront, hence saving you time. I have decided to incorporate the MyQuest product into my offering for clients.
